Candlelight Piano Concerts in Gdansk

Intimate piano recitals by the light of several hundred candles. An hour of music an arm's length from the instrument, in a small hall in the centre of Gdańsk.

Repertoire

Why come

  • An arm's length from the piano

A few rows of chairs and a grand piano. No distant stage and no amplification — you hear the pianist breathe.

  • Several hundred candles instead of a chandelier

The overhead lights go out before the first note. What is left turns an ordinary Tuesday into an occasion.

  • An hour that is just yours

About an hour, with no interval and no hurry. Long enough to settle in and simply listen.

  • Music you already know

Chopin's nocturnes, film themes and songs from your own playlists. No knowledge of classical music required.

About us

We met on the set of "The Traitors" — Maciej Łobos, a pianist, and Dawid Drej, a producer. We went down into a cellar on Rajska and made it nothing like a philharmonic hall: fifty chairs, one piano, candles instead of stage lights. There is no shortage of recitals you forget by morning. We talk about the music before we play it — and we stay with you once it fades.

If you are planning a visit to the Tricity and wondering how best to spend your time, here is a list of the best attractions you absolutely cannot miss.

  • A Rainy Day in Gdańsk with Kids?

Gdańsk can be breathtaking at any time of the year, but anyone who has spent time at the Polish seaside knows how unpredictable the local weather can be. Sometimes a cloudless sky promises a beautiful day, only for heavy, leaden clouds to gather over the Motława river just an hour later. A sudden downpour can effectively ruin plans for a long walk through the charming streets of the Main City, a boat cruise, or building sandcastles on the beach.

  • How the Romantic Genius from Żelazowa Wola Made the Whole World Fall in Love with Him

Frédéric Chopin is a name that opens the door to the most intimate and emotional corners of the human soul. Even today, nearly two hundred years after his death, his works sound most phenomenal in intimate, candlelit spaces, where listeners can experience live art almost at their fingertips. What was the journey of the man who revolutionized piano playing like?
