About the event
Looking for an unforgettable experience and a moment of calm? The "I Like Chopin" piano concert redefines what a classical music event can be in Gdańsk. This is not an ordinary piano recital – it's an intimate story told by candlelight about the composer, his passions, his longings and his musical genius.
We'll take you on a fascinating journey through the life of Fryderyk Chopin – one of the greatest composers of all time. From his first, joyful pieces, written when he was just seven years old and fascinated by Polish folk music, through the mature work of his Paris years, to the reflective, melancholy compositions of his final years.
Emotion and history in every note
What sets the intimate "I Like Chopin" concerts apart on Gdańsk's cultural map is the unique combination of music and the spoken word.
We believe music resonates more fully when we understand what lies behind the notes. That's why we give every piece its context: we talk about the historical background and about the personal experiences and emotions that inspired the composer to create each masterpiece. It makes live music feel remarkably close, clear and moving.
What will you hear? Chopin in the company of the great masters
The heart of the evening is always the music of the Polish master. The programme includes the Mazurkas Op. 24 and 33, the Études Op. 10 and 25 led by the "Revolutionary", the Polonaise in A major Op. 40, the Ballade in F major, the famous Nocturne in E flat major Op. 9 No. 2, selected Preludes Op. 28 and the Funeral March from Sonata No. 2. These are among the most fascinating piano works written in the 19th century, and pieces that many people know even if they can't always name them.
To show the full richness of piano music, our concert also features works by other world-class composers such as Robert Schumann, Ludwig van Beethoven and Sergei Rachmaninoff.

Excellent performance, lovely music and atmosphere. Timing was perfect and piano player was very professional, and there were intervals between the concert where a brief history of the music was shared. Overall it was a great experience, would recommend.

We had a wonderful evening at I Like Chopin. The experience is a 50-minute candlelit piano concert held in an intimate and cozy venue, creating a truly relaxing and elegant atmosphere. What makes it especially enjoyable is that it’s not just a concert. Between the performances, the audience also learns about Frédéric Chopin’s life and his music, making it accessible even for people who are not experts in classical music. This is a great idea for anyone looking to spend a pleasant evening while discovering one of Poland’s greatest composers in a relaxed and engaging way. The atmosphere is warm, the performance is beautiful, and the storytelling adds a lot to the experience. It’s a fantastic concept created by a group of young people who have only recently started this project. We sincerely hope it continues to grow and becomes a great success. We would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Gdańsk.
